Once upon a time, there was an empty, soul-less flat for sale, with an asking price of £325,000.
The owner couldn’t understand why it wasn’t getting any offers; it was in a lovely quiet setting in the heart of a vibrant market town in the south east. With four viewings in 4 months he was beginning to lose heart – he had his hopes set on his retirement cottage in Cornwall, and was wasting money on rent. His agent dropped the price to £315,000, but still nobody wanted to buy it! Everyone in Rightmoveland had seen it before, and assumed there was something very wrong with this flat…
One day, the estate agent called the vendor to say the price was too high, and recommended a reduction to £300,000 – this was a garbled voicemail message, and it left the vendor crestfallen…
“Right†he thought “I’m going back to that agent who was trying to open my eyes to home-stagingâ€ÂÂ
The fairy godmother waved her magic wand and, pffff, his flat was transformed into a warm and welcome home
It went back on the market at £315,000 and received an offer for the full asking price
And everyone lived happily ever after…
