You don’t have to be an expert to create stunning virtually staged images. Not when Apply Design is a part of your team. With endless revisions, AI decluttering with a click, and insider advice from a home staging professional, you’ll look like you have a whole team of experts behind you.
Here are my top five time-saving suggestions for a successful digitally staged image while using the Apply Design Virtual Staging App:
1. Utilize Curated Room Bundles
The goal of Apply Design’s Curated Room Bundles is to provide a turnkey approach to the styling of a room. Whatever your style from Modern to Scandinavian, you’ll find the perfect bundle that suits your vibe and completes your virtual stage. You don’t need to be an expert in design because you can be sure that everything you choose from a bundle will go well together. The collection at Apply Design constantly changes and includes over 100 Living Room Bundles, over 100 BedroomBundles, and numerous additional room choices. Additionally, Apply Design offers a few whole-house room packages that feature coordinated designs for the living room, dining room, primary bedroom, child bedroom, and home office, taking the guesswork out of the whole process.

2. Set the Room Scale
One of the first things you should do when designing a room is to ensure that the first piece of furniture placed is properly scaled. This will save having to manually change the size of each newly placed item. You’ll want to pay close attention to scale and proportions when adding virtual furniture and decor. Ensure that the size of the virtual items matches the dimensions of the room accurately. This will help maintain a realistic look and prevent any discrepancies that might make the staging appear unnatural.
My favorite tool to use is the Measure Tool, it allows you to set the room-scale by defining real-world measurements. Define the ceiling height of your image by selecting Measure in the Tool Bar. To set your measurements, click on the uppermost point on your image, where the ceiling and walls meet, then drag the measuring line to the lowermost point, where the floor and walls meet. Tell the system what the real-life measurement is, the average ceiling height is 9feet high. Press the Set Scale button, note that your placed furniture will change scale based on the proportion of the room and everything placed after setting this will be added to this scale.
3. Swap, Group and Duplicate Items
When I design a space, I like to move the furniture around until it’s in the perfect position. If you want to explore different night stand options, simply click on the furniture item and select the SWAP button on the control panel. A variety of similar nightstands will appear for you to choose from. If you prefer the original nightstand, you can click Undo the latest Action in the toolbar to revert back to it.
To save time, I use the Furniture Group option to group items together. To do this, I hold down the Shift key while clicking on the items I want to group. I like to group items such as the coffee table and table accessories, side tables and lamps, and artwork. Grouping allows me to move, rotate, and size multiple pieces of furniture at once.
When you’ve grouped items such as side tables and lamps, you can easily duplicate them to the other side of the couch or bed using the Duplicateoption in the left-hand panel.

4. Create Personal Collections
I’ve virtually staged hundreds of homes using Apply Design and I undoubtedly have my go-to furniture and accessories. Apply Design helps you save time finding that perfect rug or accessory with a great feature that allows you to Create Personal Collections so that you can quickly and easily refer back to your favorites. Simply click the small ribbon icon that appears in the top right corner of any piece of furniture, select Create New Collection, provide a collection name and description, and then select Save to create a collection. Check out the Help File for comprehensive instructions.

5. Provide Multiple Design Options
Don’t settle for the first design you create. Apply Design gives you full creative control and endless revisions. Experiment with different layouts, furniture arrangements, and color schemes to find the most appealing and marketable staging options. Virtual staging offers the flexibility to try various designs without the need for physical furniture, which is a big money and time saver, so take advantage of this opportunity to explore different possibilities. You can always go back to a previous design selecting Restore Design in the toolbar and selecting the render you wish to restore.
Remember, virtual staging should enhance the visual appeal of a property, making it easier for potential buyers to envision themselves living in the space. By following these time-saving tips, you can create stunning virtual stagings using Apply Design in minutes.
