Covid-19 caught us all by surprise and we quickly needed to adjust. With the lockdown, many have found themselves working from home and needing a space to do so. Whilst some may feel overwhelmed and distracted while working from home, decluttering your workspace can help you maintain productivity and harness creativity.
There are a few things you can do to place yourself in an office mood, here are some:
• Follow a Structure. Having a sense of structure to your day can help increase productivity levels and reduce distractions. To do so, follow your normal workday routine – wake up early, have breakfast before you start working and get an hour break like you would for lunch.
• Get Dressed. Put on what you would normally wear to work, it freshens you up and sets the mood.
• Choose a Calm Space. Notify other household members of your working space and make sure they do not distract you. At the end of the day, the last thing you want is to have your child screaming in the background during a meeting! Also, try to place your desk/working space in an area near natural light – it can be a great source of inspiration.
• Clear your desk. Declutter the area around your desk, it will help you to stay focused and to better organize your ideas. Prepare your desk before you start working and make sure you have everything you would need, including a comfy chair!
Creating your own work haven at home can have a significant impact on productivity levels and focus. It is important to choose a space that is calm, quiet, comfortable, and bright to help you to stay positive and inspired. Moreover, it is crucial that this space is different from your lounging area; have a clear distinction between work and everyday life. Making a few tweaks to your home office can completely transform it and give it a new feel of life.
Stay safe, stay home, stay productive!
